
The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and Leader of Alive Chapel International, and his wife, Mouha Amoako, following a tragic accident involving their son, which resulted in two fatalities in East Legon on Sunday, October 12, 2024.
In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday, October 15, the police revealed, “The parents of the 16-year-old suspect, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, are currently in custody assisting with the investigation.”
Providing details gathered from the investigation, the police stated: “On October 12, 2024, the suspect, 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, was driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801–20 and had one other passenger. He collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle, registration number GR 2542–23, driven by Joseph Ackah, who had four passengers on Mensah Wood Street in East Legon. Both vehicles caught fire and were completely destroyed.”
The statement further revealed that three of the five people in the Acura were rescued, but tragically, two 12-year-olds, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, lost their lives. Two of the rescued victims, who sustained minor injuries, were treated and discharged, while the third remains hospitalized.
The suspect driver and his passenger were also rescued and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital, the statement added.
In light of the incident, the police visited the bereaved families to offer condolences and also visited the injured in the hospital. This visit was conducted by a team from the Police Management Board, led by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, on October 15, 2024.
