The Black Starlets, Ghana’s U-17 national football team, will begin the final leg of their southern sector scouting tour in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. This initiative, spearheaded by head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso and his technical team, is part of a nationwide effort to uncover the next generation of football talent.
Scouting Schedule Across Accra
The Greater Accra scouting program has been divided into three key sessions:
Tuesday, April 22 – Tema Sports Stadium
Wednesday, April 23 – Madina Astroturf
Thursday, April 24 – Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman
The sessions aim to identify promising players born after January 1, 2009, who could eventually earn a place in the Black Starlets squad.
A Rigorous Search for Rising Stars
The screening process will include intense trials and assessments to find the best of the best. Selected players will be considered for inclusion in the national U-17 player pool.
This exercise is a key component of the Ghana Football Association’s broader youth development strategy, aimed at nurturing homegrown talent to strengthen national teams at all levels.
Nationwide Scouting Tour Nears Completion
The Greater Accra phase follows successful scouting stops in Cape Coast, Koforidua, and Ho, covering the Central, Eastern, and Volta Regions.
Prior to the southern sector tour, the Black Starlets’ coaching staff conducted extensive scouting missions in northern Ghana, spanning the Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions. They also covered the Middle Belt, including the Ashanti, Western, and Western North Regions.
With the final scouting events set in motion, the Black Starlets are one step closer to discovering Ghana’s next football icons.
