The United States Is Targeting Captain Ibrahim Traoré — And This Time It Looks Serious

As expected, the United States is setting its sights on Captain Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, and this time, it seems they’re ready to take it further than ever before. This attack isn’t coming from just anyone — it’s coming directly from the head of the U.S. Africa Command, General Michael Langley. General Langley has accused Captain Traoré of the unthinkable: using Burkina Faso’s gold reserves for personal protection rather than for the benefit of the people.

We all know this accusation couldn’t be further from the truth. Unfortunately, we’ve seen this tired old script before. Think back — you don’t even have to think hard — to how powerful American figures have historically painted African leaders as corrupt, selfish, and dangerous to their own people. Sound familiar?

History Repeats Itself: Remember Gaddafi?

Have you read this script before? I’m sure it rings a bell. Remember what President Obama did to Libya’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi? We were bamboozled. We, the people, failed Gaddafi because we bought into the propaganda. Libya bought into it too. But this is 2025 — we know better now.

The Western world should know we’re no longer asleep. This time, it’s not happening under our watch — especially not under the watchful eyes of the Burkinabè people, who have shown nothing but love, admiration, and loyalty to Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

When there’s even a rumor of a coup, Burkinabè citizens surround Traoré’s home to protect their leader. They know what he’s doing for them. And we’re about to dive into exactly what Captain Traoré has accomplished — and why the U.S. accusations are pure nonsense.

But first, let’s address a major event that just unfolded.

A Coup Attempt in Burkina Faso — Again

Just a day ago, Burkina Faso’s military government announced that it had foiled a major plot to overthrow Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Security Minister Mahamoudou Sana, speaking on state television, revealed that the plot involved current and former soldiers as well as terrorist leaders. The conspirators planned to storm the presidential palace on April 16 — conveniently, at the same time General Langley was accusing Traoré of misusing gold reserves.

Authorities stated that the coup attempt aimed to create total chaos and place Burkina Faso under the supervision of an international organization. The instigators are believed to be operating out of Ivory Coast.

This is just the latest in a long line of efforts to topple Captain Traoré, who came to power after a 2022 coup. Since then, despite pledges to fight jihadist groups and seeking security support from Russia, around 40% of the country remains under jihadist control.

Last week, several ministry officials were already arrested for allegedly plotting to destabilize the government. Clearly, someone wants Traoré out — and it’s not the Burkinabè people.

What Captain Ibrahim Traoré Has Accomplished

Captain Traoré has done more for Burkina Faso in a short period than many leaders accomplish in decades. Here’s just a snapshot of his achievements:

  • Built and commissioned Burkina Faso’s first-ever gold refinery.

  • Nationalized two major gold mines in Boungou and Wahgnion for $80 million — a huge win compared to the $300 million valuation by Endeavour Mining.

  • Approved the $135 million (80 billion CFA francs) expansion of the Bobo-Dioulasso Airport, modernizing the country’s second-largest hub.

  • Launched the first National Support Center for Artisanal Cotton Processing. (Burkina Faso is the largest producer of cotton in Africa!)

  • Expelled French troops, officially ending French military operations in Burkina Faso.

  • Empowered farmers by distributing 400 tractors, nearly 1,000 motorcycles, 710 motor pumps, 68,964 tons of fertilizer, and more.

  • Signed a treaty with Mali and Niger to form the Alliance of Sahel States — the world’s only active confederation today.

  • Removed French as an official language, elevating indigenous languages instead.

  • Reinforced healthcare by supplying 15 mobile clinics, 36 vehicles, 3 oxygen units, 11 cold rooms, 835 tablets, and 1,900 solar refrigerators.

And despite surviving four and a half coup attempts, he stands strong, backed by the overwhelming support of his people.

Ibrahim Traoré Is Not the Enemy

Captain Ibrahim Traoré has proven himself over and over again. He stands for something greater than himself, and the Burkinabè people — and many Africans across the diaspora — recognize that.

Every attempt to destabilize him has failed because the people believe in his vision. They know he fights for them and their future, not for personal gain.

We must stay vigilant. We must pray for his protection. In a world full of leaders who have sold out their nations, Captain Ibrahim Traoré shines like a rare gem, doing his best for his people against all odds.
