While one African leader is boldly demanding that imperialists leave the continent, another is <strong data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"523\">inviting them back in through backdoor agreements<\/strong>. This paradox defines the current African leadership crisis.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"589\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"591\" data-end=\"623\"><strong data-start=\"594\" data-end=\"623\">A Wake-Up Call for Africa<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"951\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3700\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/A-Wake-Up-Call-for-Africa_341.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/A-Wake-Up-Call-for-Africa_341.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/A-Wake-Up-Call-for-Africa_341-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"951\">If we, as Black Africans, do not <strong data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"694\">wake up and get our act together<\/strong>, the world will continue to walk into our nations, <strong data-start=\"746\" data-end=\"801\">extract the best of our resources at almost no cost<\/strong>, and leave us empty-handed. This discussion reveals the disturbing truths about the <strong data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"949\">newly signed minerals agreement between the DRC and the USA<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1067\">Brace yourself\u2014by the time you fully grasp what\u2019s happening, your heart may break for what is unfolding in Africa.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1072\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1125\"><strong data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1125\">The DRC-USA Minerals Deal: Signed in Silence<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1256\">On <strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1148\">March 20, 2025<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1208\">Democratic Republic of Congo and the United States<\/strong> signed a minerals agreement. In simple terms:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1421\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1306\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1306\"><strong data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1304\">The U.S. promises \u201cpeace and protection.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1421\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1421\">In return, the <strong data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1373\">DRC grants access to mine \u201ccritical minerals\u201d<\/strong>\u2014copper, lithium, cobalt, uranium, and tantalum.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1619\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3704\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/The-DRC-USA-Minerals-Deal-41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/The-DRC-USA-Minerals-Deal-41.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/The-DRC-USA-Minerals-Deal-41-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1619\">These are the minerals the U.S. classifies as \u201ccritical\u201d because they power <strong data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1589\">electric vehicles, smartphones, laptops, digital cameras, and renewable energy systems<\/strong>. The numbers speak volumes:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1736\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1667\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1667\">DRC produces <strong data-start=\"1635\" data-end=\"1664\">74% of the world\u2019s cobalt<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1706\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1706\"><strong data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1699\">6% of the world\u2019s lithium<\/strong>, and<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1736\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1736\"><strong data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1733\">10% of global copper<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"2038\">The <strong data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"1766\">global cobalt market<\/strong> is valued at <strong data-start=\"1780\" data-end=\"1798\">$16.96 billion<\/strong>, projected to hit <strong data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"1840\">$25 billion by 2023<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1841\" data-end=\"1844\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"1848\" data-end=\"1866\">lithium market<\/strong> is estimated at <strong data-start=\"1883\" data-end=\"1898\">$44 billion<\/strong>, forecasted to skyrocket to <strong data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1943\">$164 billion<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1944\" data-end=\"1947\" \/><strong data-start=\"1947\" data-end=\"1957\">Copper<\/strong> is worth around <strong data-start=\"1974\" data-end=\"1990\">$291 billion<\/strong>, projected to grow to <strong data-start=\"2013\" data-end=\"2037\">$422 billion by 2033<\/strong>.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2043\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"2045\" data-end=\"2097\"><strong data-start=\"2048\" data-end=\"2097\">China\u2019s Grip on the DRC\u2014and America\u2019s Urgency<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2099\" data-end=\"2204\">The United States rushed to finalize this deal largely due to <strong data-start=\"2161\" data-end=\"2201\">China\u2019s deep entrenchment in the DRC<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2099\" data-end=\"2204\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3711\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Chinas-Grip-on-the-DRC_241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Chinas-Grip-on-the-DRC_241.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Chinas-Grip-on-the-DRC_241-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><ul data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2507\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2302\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2207\" data-end=\"2302\">In South Kivu Province alone, <strong data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2266\">over 450 mining companies<\/strong> are operating\u2014many Chinese-owned.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"2303\" data-end=\"2438\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2438\"><strong data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2326\">Chinese companies<\/strong> like CNOC Group, Zijin Mining, and China Railway hold <strong data-start=\"2381\" data-end=\"2399\">massive stakes<\/strong> in 15 major copper and cobalt mines.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"2439\" data-end=\"2507\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2441\" data-end=\"2507\">As of now, <strong data-start=\"2452\" data-end=\"2506\">China controls 80% of all cobalt refining capacity<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2509\" data-end=\"2854\">Now, <strong data-start=\"2514\" data-end=\"2557\">the U.S. has officially joined the fray<\/strong>\u2014but not just economically. On <strong data-start=\"2588\" data-end=\"2606\">April 25, 2025<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"2612\" data-end=\"2637\">U.S., Rwanda, and DRC<\/strong> signed a \u201cDeclaration of Principles for Peace,\u201d ostensibly to <strong data-start=\"2700\" data-end=\"2727\">stabilize eastern Congo<\/strong>. In reality, it facilitates <strong data-start=\"2756\" data-end=\"2805\">American extraction of raw Congolese minerals<\/strong>, aided by <strong data-start=\"2816\" data-end=\"2853\">Rwandan and Congolese governments<\/strong>.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2856\" data-end=\"2859\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"2861\" data-end=\"2891\"><strong data-start=\"2864\" data-end=\"2891\">A Rich Nation in Chains<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"3095\">The DRC\u2014a country with over <strong data-start=\"2921\" data-end=\"2943\">112 million people<\/strong>, a <strong data-start=\"2947\" data-end=\"2970\">poverty rate of 73%<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"2976\" data-end=\"3022\">$24 trillion in untapped natural resources<\/strong>\u2014is <strong data-start=\"3026\" data-end=\"3055\">begging the U.S. for help<\/strong>. That is the <strong data-start=\"3069\" data-end=\"3094\">definition of madness<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3097\" data-end=\"3105\">Despite:<\/p><ul data-start=\"3106\" data-end=\"3269\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3106\" data-end=\"3147\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3108\" data-end=\"3147\">Having <strong data-start=\"3115\" data-end=\"3144\">only 1.8% of usable roads<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3148\" data-end=\"3210\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3150\" data-end=\"3210\">Less than <strong data-start=\"3160\" data-end=\"3203\">10% of citizens with electricity access<\/strong>, and<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3211\" data-end=\"3269\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3213\" data-end=\"3269\">Over <strong data-start=\"3218\" data-end=\"3266\">8 million conflict-related deaths since 1994<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3271\" data-end=\"3344\">the DRC continues to <strong data-start=\"3292\" data-end=\"3343\">trade away its resources for temporary promises<\/strong>.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"3346\" data-end=\"3349\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"3351\" data-end=\"3393\"><strong data-start=\"3354\" data-end=\"3393\">Leadership Failure: The Real Crisis<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3395\" data-end=\"3716\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3718\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Leadership_Failure_In_DRC_Congo_41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Leadership_Failure_In_DRC_Congo_41.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Leadership_Failure_In_DRC_Congo_41-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3395\" data-end=\"3716\">Are we truly supposed to believe that the DRC and Rwanda couldn&#8217;t resolve border militia conflicts <strong data-start=\"3494\" data-end=\"3526\">without foreign intervention<\/strong>? That the <strong data-start=\"3537\" data-end=\"3605\">African Union couldn&#8217;t mediate a peaceful, self-reliant solution<\/strong>? Instead, the world watches as <strong data-start=\"3637\" data-end=\"3667\">foreigners milk Africa dry<\/strong>, with African leaders <strong data-start=\"3690\" data-end=\"3715\">helpless or complicit<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3718\" data-end=\"4058\">The current DRC leadership is <strong data-start=\"3748\" data-end=\"3792\">disconnected from the people\u2019s realities<\/strong>. It is a <strong data-start=\"3802\" data-end=\"3842\">leadership crisis, not a war problem<\/strong>. While <strong data-start=\"3850\" data-end=\"3923\">malaria kills 27,000 to 50,000 Congolese children under five annually<\/strong>, the President believes that <strong data-start=\"3953\" data-end=\"3997\">inviting more multinational corporations<\/strong> will solve DRC\u2019s problems. It&#8217;s not only absurd\u2014it\u2019s tragic.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"4060\" data-end=\"4063\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"4065\" data-end=\"4105\"><strong data-start=\"4068\" data-end=\"4105\">Exporting Jobs, Importing Poverty<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4107\" data-end=\"4272\">The DRC is exporting its <strong data-start=\"4132\" data-end=\"4162\">future and jobs to America<\/strong>, while 85% of Congolese survive on <strong data-start=\"4198\" data-end=\"4215\">informal jobs<\/strong>\u2014street vending, artisanal mining, subsistence farming.<\/p><p data-start=\"4107\" data-end=\"4272\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3730\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_Congo_illegal_Mining_141.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_Congo_illegal_Mining_141.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_Congo_illegal_Mining_141-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><ul data-start=\"4273\" data-end=\"4358\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"4273\" data-end=\"4314\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4275\" data-end=\"4314\"><strong data-start=\"4275\" data-end=\"4311\">80% of workers are underemployed<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"4315\" data-end=\"4358\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4317\" data-end=\"4358\"><strong data-start=\"4317\" data-end=\"4355\">20-25% of the youth are unemployed<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4360\" data-end=\"4690\">How does a country with such wealth sign away its destiny? The world is feasting on the DRC right now:<br data-start=\"4462\" data-end=\"4465\" \/><strong data-start=\"4465\" data-end=\"4541\">China, USA, Russia, Switzerland, Canada, UAE, France, Australia, Belgium<\/strong>\u2014all have <strong data-start=\"4551\" data-end=\"4586\">multinational mining operations<\/strong> in the country. Yet, the people remain <strong data-start=\"4626\" data-end=\"4646\">desperately poor<\/strong>, with a per capita income of only <strong data-start=\"4681\" data-end=\"4689\">$714<\/strong>.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"4692\" data-end=\"4695\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"4697\" data-end=\"4728\"><strong data-start=\"4700\" data-end=\"4728\">The DRC Is a Crime Scene<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4730\" data-end=\"4944\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3722\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_is_a_crime_scene_241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_is_a_crime_scene_241.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DRC_is_a_crime_scene_241-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4730\" data-end=\"4944\">This deal is not development\u2014it\u2019s <strong data-start=\"4764\" data-end=\"4789\">economic colonization<\/strong>. The DRC is now a <strong data-start=\"4808\" data-end=\"4823\">crime scene<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"4829\" data-end=\"4852\">Africa must act now<\/strong>. The nation\u2019s <strong data-start=\"4867\" data-end=\"4897\">leadership is non-existent<\/strong>, and the <strong data-start=\"4907\" data-end=\"4943\">continent must rise to rescue it<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4946\" data-end=\"5188\">Imagine what <strong data-start=\"4959\" data-end=\"5001\">Captain Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 of Burkina Faso<\/strong> could do with the DRC\u2019s resources. Traor\u00e9 is resisting foreign exploitation and building African solutions. The DRC needs <strong data-start=\"5124\" data-end=\"5145\">a leader like him<\/strong>\u2014visionary, bold, and unshakably patriotic.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"5190\" data-end=\"5193\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"5195\" data-end=\"5249\"><strong data-start=\"5198\" data-end=\"5249\">No Resources Have Ever Saved an African Country<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5251\" data-end=\"5519\">Giving away raw resources to the West <strong data-start=\"5289\" data-end=\"5331\">has never developed any African nation<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"5337\" data-end=\"5366\">Western capitalist system<\/strong> exists to <strong data-start=\"5377\" data-end=\"5396\">maximize profit<\/strong>, not uplift poor countries. If left unchecked, the West will take all it can\u2014and <strong data-start=\"5478\" data-end=\"5518\">leave DRC as broken as they found it<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"5251\" data-end=\"5519\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3737\" src=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/No_Resources_Have_Ever_Saved_An_African_Country_314.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/No_Resources_Have_Ever_Saved_An_African_Country_314.jpg 726w, https:\/\/cmtv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/No_Resources_Have_Ever_Saved_An_African_Country_314-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5521\" data-end=\"5535\">We must ask:<\/p><ul data-start=\"5536\" data-end=\"5673\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"5536\" data-end=\"5587\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5538\" data-end=\"5587\"><strong data-start=\"5538\" data-end=\"5585\">How has the DRC benefited from these deals?<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"5588\" data-end=\"5618\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5590\" data-end=\"5618\"><strong data-start=\"5590\" data-end=\"5616\">Has anything improved?<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"5619\" data-end=\"5673\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5621\" data-end=\"5673\">Or is the <strong data-start=\"5631\" data-end=\"5672\">country just getting worse by the day<\/strong>?<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5675\" data-end=\"5806\">The DRC is <strong data-start=\"5686\" data-end=\"5705\">at a crossroads<\/strong>, and if no one steps up to lead, it will remain trapped in this <strong data-start=\"5770\" data-end=\"5805\">cycle of exploitation and chaos<\/strong>.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"5808\" data-end=\"5811\" \/><h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"5813\" data-end=\"5863\"><strong data-start=\"5816\" data-end=\"5863\">Final Thoughts: Where Is Congo\u2019s Salvation?<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"5865\" data-end=\"6093\"><strong data-start=\"5865\" data-end=\"5916\">Africa needs a savior. Congo needs a deliverer.<\/strong> Without <strong data-start=\"5925\" data-end=\"5959\">fearless, committed leadership<\/strong>, the multinationals will drain the Congo until only <strong data-start=\"6012\" data-end=\"6037\">dust and blood remain<\/strong>. The next 10 to 20 years will determine the DRC&#8217;s fate.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"6095\" data-end=\"6227\">Let us not be the generation that <strong data-start=\"6129\" data-end=\"6161\">sold our continent for cheap<\/strong>.
